With regard to the announced sale of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena's shareholding in Cassa di Risparmio di Biella e Vercelli to Cassa di Risparmio di Asti, BMPS clarifies that, in response to the assertions by the Chairman of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Vercelli as reported by press agencies, the Transaction does not involve any purchase by BMPS of the stake in the Bank of Italy held by Biverbanca, but rather the assignment of the stake in the Bank of Italy to all Biverbanca's shareholders (BMPS, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Biella and FCRV) pro-rata to their respective holdings in Biverbanca.
Considering that, as is known, the shareholding in the Bank of Italy does not qualify for regulatory capital purposes, the transaction has no impact on Biverbanca's capital ratios -already far exceeding minimum requirements- and allows for the full and equitable safeguard of all of Biverbanca shareholders's interests.
