What cookies are and what they are used for

In its client-tailored service offering, the Bank uses cookies to store clients’ personal data.

Cookies are sets of information stored on the  local hard drive  of  a user connected through a web server. They enable the server to “recognize” the user on his next visit to the website without prompting him again for information he has already supplied.

Some sections of the Bank’s website www.mps.it which offer client-tailored services may use cookies.

Cookies are used to:

  • identify the user and access information about his own account, so as to provide him with better customized service. This type of cookie is set up when the user logs on or clicks on “enter”;
  • assess client characteristics. Each browser that accesses the Bank’s website is sent  cookie to count how many times the site is visited and how many services are used. This makes promotions more effective and proposals closer to the interests and habits of visitors, be they registered or not;
  • track the frequency with which a user visits the website pages, signs up for promotions and participates in contests, etc.;
  • identify registered users and find out which pages are most frequently visited. This type of search is useful to understand  user  preferences and consequently improve  the offerings of products and services, as well as to better customize the website contents, headlines and promotions.

Cookies are also used by advertisers  having their own commercials or banners on the Bank’s website.
